Resurrection at the supermarket

“Resurrection at the Supermarket” is a short comic inspired by a dream I had back when I worked the night shift at a "No Frills" discount supermarket. I’d start at midnight and finish at 8 a.m., restocking shelves before opening time. That job didn’t just give me the comic’s setting—it also showed me how much perfectly good food gets thrown away simply because the packaging is torn or crumpled.

I also learned which section is the hardest to stock: beverages. Coca‑Cola, Pepsi, mineral water… those family‑size plastic packs of six three‑liter bottles. Every new hire goes through this “gym.”

The comic’s plot is simple: a night in an empty supermarket, rows of shelves filled with food. Suddenly, a can falls off a shelf and hits the floor with a metallic clang. Then another—crash. A third. Cans and jars begin dropping from every aisle. Their contents spill out: pieces of meat, broths, sauces… and this chaotic mess rapidly starts transforming back into the animals it once was.

The supermarket fills with resurrected cows, horses, poultry, and fish. The herd moos, neighs, oinks, and charges out into the street—past a security guard who can’t believe his eyes.
