Golden Seed

Year — 1992 Medium — Winsor & Newton ink Original — in a private collection Giclee Prints — limited edition 12 of 50

In 1996, shortly after my return from Italy, a woman I had recently met asked me to create a painting for her wealthy husband’s birthday. I accepted the commission and painted Golden Seed. The work hung in their home for eighteen years.

Over time, however, her husband went bankrupt, the couple divorced, and their property was sold. The painting was to be sold as well, and my acquaintance contacted me to ask whether I wanted to buy it back. I had always been fond of Golden Seed, and it would have been a shame to lose it. At that moment, I didn’t have the necessary funds — but a wonderful woman fell in love with the painting and purchased it for her collection.

I was left with the comfort of knowing that Golden Seed was in good hands, along with the opportunity to produce and sell high‑quality, numbered reproductions.
